Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

Ever since I started using the air fryer more, I make sweet potato fries all the time.

They’re easy, don’t need much prep, and turn out crispy without deep frying.

I used to make them in the oven, but they often came out uneven, some pieces too soft, others overdone.

With the air fryer, I get a much better result. The outside turns lightly crisp, while the inside stays soft, which is exactly how I like them.

I keep the seasoning simple with a bit of garlic, paprika, and dill so the natural sweetness still comes through.

It’s a great side for almost anything, and honestly, I sometimes just make a batch on its own and call it a snack.

Ingredients You’ll Need

4 medium sweet potatoes
2–3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon dry dill
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

Wash and peel the sweet potatoes. Cut them into thin, even strips so they cook at the same rate.

Place the cut fries in a large bowl. Add olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, dill, and paprika. Toss everything well so the fries are evenly coated.

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for a few minutes if needed.

Arrange the fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Don’t overcrowd them, cook in batches if needed.

Cook for 12–15 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through, until they’re golden and slightly crispy on the outside.

Repeat with the remaining batches. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Recipe Notes

Cut the fries as evenly as you can. Thinner pieces will cook faster and get crispier, while thicker ones will stay softer inside.

Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. The fries need space so the hot air can circulate and crisp them properly.

If you want extra crispiness, soak the cut sweet potatoes in cold water for about 30 minutes, then dry them really well before seasoning.

Shake or flip them halfway through cooking so they cook evenly on all sides.

Cooking time can vary depending on your air fryer, so keep an eye on the first batch and adjust if needed.

Serve them right away. Sweet potato fries tend to soften as they sit.
